1. ORGANIZING ENTITY

Pladur®, a leading brand in laminated gypsum board systems, is organizing for the thirty-fifth consecutive year its annual Pladur® Constructive Solutions Competition.

2. PARTICIPANTS AND REGISTRATION

Participation in the competition is free of charge. All students officially enrolled in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th year, P.F.C., or a Master’s Degree in Architecture at Technical Schools and Faculties of Architecture in Spain and Portugal registered in this edition are eligible to participate.

Projects may be submitted individually or in teams, with a maximum of three representatives per team. In the case of team submissions, prior registration of all team members at the time of submission is required.

Teams may consist of students from different schools; however, only one school will be represented, as chosen by the students themselves.

To submit a project, each team member must first complete registration in the REGISTRATION section of the competition website: https://premiospladur.com/registro/

All registered participants will receive a free “Introduction to REVIT” course valued at 189€, provided by the prestigious Zigurat Institute of Technology. Upon registration, each student will receive a confirmation email with access to the course.

Participants are encouraged to follow Pladur®‘s official social media accounts on Facebook (www.facebook.com/pladuresp ) and Instagram (www.instagram.com/pladur_oficial/ ) for relevant updates, news, and important event dates. Participants should also use the hashtag #PremiosPladur so that competition images and photographs can be shared on both the event website and social media.

3. AWARD CATEGORIES AND PRIZE ALLOCATION

LOCAL AWARDS
Each school/university will award the following local prizes:

Local Architecture Prize

  • Certificate for each team member and 400€ per project.
  • Invitation to and participation in the Iberian Pladur® Awards (including attendance at the Awards Ceremony).
  • Networking opportunities with local winners, coordinators, and jury members.
  • One member of the winning local team will serve on the university’s jury for the following edition of the competition (unless they participate again, in which case the runner-up will replace them)

  • Participation in the traveling exhibition of the Pladur® Awards, which will tour all participating schools the following year.
  • Display at the finalist exhibition during the Pladur® Awards Gala.

If a university submits more than 10 but fewer than 25 projects, a first and second local prize will be awarded. The second prize will receive 400€ but will not advance to the final phase.

If a university has more than 25 submitted projects, the school may opt to send one award-winning project to the Iberian Architecture Jury and another to the Constructive Solutions Jury.

Local Accésit Prize

  • Certificate for each team member.
  • Promotion on Pladur®‘s website and social media.

Local BIM Prize

  • Certificate for each team member.

A minimum of three projects must be submitted at a school/university for the local jury and awards to be conducted. Otherwise, the Pladur® organizing committee will evaluate whether the projects qualify for local representation in the final or should be moved to the Inter-school phase, where a separate jury will determine which projects advance to the final, considering the winner as the official local prize recipient.

The Inter-school jury will award a local prize and an accésit, or two prizes if more than ten projects are submitted (no two primary prizes or accésit prizes can be awarded to the same school/university).

5. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Projects must be submitted digitally through the Premios Pladur® website, under ‘My Account’ in the ‘My Project’ section.

Project Requirements

Specification

File Format

Single PDF, maximum size 16 MB

Number of Panels

Minimum 3, maximum 4, A2 format (42 x 59.4 cm or 420 x 594 mm)

Mandatory Content

Location, plans, construction details, etc.

Personal Data

Should not be included in the panels, only in the registration form.

Below are some recommendations regarding the information that each panel should contain:

PANEL 1

  • Development of the project concept. Location, orientation, and relation to the surroundings.

PANEL 2

  • Preliminary project proposal. The exterior should be presented at the basic project level.
  • Floor plan(s), elevations, and sections that clearly characterize the intervention, as well as renderings, images, or photographs of models (physical models are not accepted, only photos of them).
  • The student may opt to use two panels instead of one if desired.

PANEL 3

  • Construction details of Pladur® Systems (partitions, linings, ceilings…) that comprise the spaces within the project as chosen by the student.
  • Justification for selecting the specific Pladur® plasterboard as the leading element of the project based on design requirements.
  • The selected board must be part of a system, and its composition should be incorporated into the panel’s plans (use our support material).
  • The construction details must be correctly integrated into the project’s details. Simply copying and pasting images from Pladur® documentation is not permitted. Only projects demonstrating proper handling and integration of Pladur® construction details will be valued.

To be eligible for the Pladur® BIM Special Mention, an IFC model of the project must be submitted using Pladur® BIM objects. It must be verified that the created IFC includes Pladur® Systems with their respective names and information.

6. EVALUATION CRITERIA

Best Architectural Project Award

The following criteria will be considered:

  • Originality of the proposal, as well as its design, functionality, and architectural quality.
  • The spatial quality of the project, its integration with the surroundings (environmental, visual, social, etc.), and its interior/exterior relationship.
  • Use and implementation of Pladur® Systems in the project development, which is essential for evaluation.
  • Leadership proposals for the selected Pladur® plasterboard within the project.
  • Feasibility of the project for execution.

Best Construction Solution Award

Special emphasis will be placed on:

  • Feasibility of executing the proposal.
  • The level of detail in construction elements.

BIM Mention

To qualify for the BIM Mention, an additional BIM model in IFC format must be submitted, using Pladur® BIM objects.

The jury will evaluate:

  • The best use of Pladur® BIM objects within the architectural proposal under the BIM methodology.
  • The evaluation will be conducted using Solibri’s IFC model viewer, so all information created in the native modeling software must be transferred to the IFC, especially all Pladur® BIM objects used. Without IFC format, the project will not be evaluated.

Sustainable Construction Mention

Projects will be assessed based on sustainability criteria in passive design, natural resource usage, thermal and acoustic comfort, and the correct application of Pladur® solutions and products.

7. PROJECT SUBMISSION

Projects must be uploaded to the official Pladur® competition website by April 23 at 11:59 PM.

The date of the Local Jury session will be set by the schools, always considering Pladur®’s deadline.

8. AWARD CEREMONY

All awards will be presented during an event held on a date and location to be announced. The winners of the ‘Local Architecture Award’ (excluding Accésit Prize) and the top three local BIM awards (according to the BIM jury’s decision), along with local coordinators and jurors, will be invited to attend.

Additionally, a representative of the winners from the previous edition, provided they are not participating in the current edition, will be invited and responsible for presenting the award to the new winners, fostering a link between editions.

9. LEGAL ASPECTS

  • Pladur® reserves the right to declare void and disqualify any submission that fails to provide the required information, or does not meet the established technical evaluation criteria.

All winning entries in any phase of the competition shall become the property of Pladur®.

Pladur® will request winners to provide necessary payment details (name, ID number and copy, bank certificate, SWIFT code, address, and contact number) via email. These details must be submitted before the awards ceremony and within one month of the request. Failure to comply within this period will result in exclusion from the prize payment.

Winners may claim their prize via concurso@pladur.com before December of the awarding year, after which claims will expire.

Winning participants grant Pladur® the rights to publish and disseminate their work without territorial or temporal limitations, and without compensation.

Attendees at the Awards Ceremony authorize Pladur® to use images and photographs from the event for promotional purposes, without financial or other compensation.
